BROOKINGS — Marjorie L. Kjos, 96, of Brookings, passed away Thursday, January 3, 2019, at The Neighborhoods at Brookview in Brookings.
Funeral Service will be 10:30 a.m., Monday, January 7, at the First Lutheran Church in Brookings. Visitation will be from 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday at Rude’s Funeral Home in Brookings.
Marjorie L. Olson was born June 24, 1922, in Brookings to Benjamin and Inez (Hill) Olson. She attended Brookings High School. She was united in marriage to Albert F. Kjos on April 14, 1940. The couple had been employed by the First Lutheran Church as custodians since 1969. She was also a member of the church and the hospital auxiliary.
She is survived by her three daughters, Verna (Darrel) DeKraai of Huron, Carole (Roy) Beaird of Brandon, and Donna (Barry) Winter of Rapid City; seven grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband; son-in-law, Bob Williams; sisters, Mildred Olson, Marilyn Kamrath, and Bernice Samuelson and her husband, Lester; brothers, Don Olson, and Irvin Olson; and sister-in-law, Pat Olson.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be directed to First Lutheran Church located at 337 8th St, Brookings, SD 57006.
