WILLOW LAKE — Marlyn D. Kannegieter, 77, of Willow Lake passed away Monday, January 7, 2019, at the Avera Queen of Peace Hospital in Mitchell.
Funeral service will be 10:30 a.m., Saturday, January 12, in the Willow Lake Gospel Church at Willow Lake. Burial will follow in the Collins Cemetery at Willow Lake. Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Friday at the church and will continue at 9 a.m. Saturday morning in the Church.
He was born Marlyn Dean Kannegieter August 18, 1941, near Willow Lake to Arthur Edward and Olive F. (Shurr) Kannegieter. He attended school at Willow Lake graduating in 1960, and served his country honorably in the National Guard. He was united in marriage to Crystal Rumple September 21, 1968. The couple farmed on the family farm near Willow Lake until moving into town in the mid 1990’s.
He is survived by his wife. Crystal; children, Lisa (Alan) Bahe of Brookings, Steven of Willow Lake, and Daniel (Jenalee) Kannegieter of Bryant; three grandchildren; siblings, Lois Monahan. and Clifford (Carol) Kannegieter both of Watertown, and Nola Goodman of Sidney, Mont.
He was preceded in death by his parents; siblings, Harold, and Ruth (Buzz) Bastian; and two brothers-in-law.
The Furness Funeral Home at Clark is serving the family.
