HURON — “Marshall the Miracle Dog” is a wonderful true story of tragedy, redemption and inspiration. Marshall was rescued from an animal hoarder in Marshall, Mo., (thus the name Marshall). He had been held with 60 other dogs who were found starving and neglected.
When the Humane Society of Missouri rescued the dogs, Marshall was in such bad condition he was not expected to live. Marshall was taken to the veterinarian where he underwent surgery. During surgery, Marshall lost his heartbeat twice, but fought for his life and lived! Marshall made a full recovery and was adopted.
Marshall’s new owner, Cyndi Willenbrock, is actually the author of this book.
“When I read this book it touched my heart, just as my mission as President of the Beadle County Humane Society does, and it was simply a must to share it with everyone,” said Lisa Cornelius, who is president of the Beadle County Humane Society board of directors.

“This story helps children connect with those who have been bullied and abused,” she said. “The powerful messages in the book are so important in our lives and the teaching of our children today. We need to inspire children to be kind to themselves and others and to act with courage to stop abuse and bullying. We need to teach children to believe in love, kindness, second chances and that being different is a gift.”
Cornelius thanks everyone in the community for supporting the Beadle County Humane Society with donations and supplies.
“As always, you can count on us to provide tender loving care for the homeless until they find their ‘forever’ homes,” she said. “We are the voice for those who cannot speak for themselves.”
