ROCKHAM — Mary Angela (Gruenwald) Edgar, 84, of Rockham, passed away Tuesday, September 25, 2018, at home of pancreatic cancer.
Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 a.m., Monday, October 1, at St. Mary’s in Zell. Burial will follow in St. Mary’s Cemetery. Visitation will be 5 to 7 p.m. Sunday at Hyke Funeral Home in Redfield, with a Prayer Service and Rosary at 7 p.m. Family will be present at 6 p.m.
Mary Angela Gruenwald was born November 15, 1933, in rural Spink County, to Joseph and Matilda (Leitner) Gruenwald. She graduated from Mount Marty High School in 1951, and from St. Luke’s School of Nursing in 1954. She was united in marriage to Dick Edgar December 28, 1954. She worked many years as a RN at the Community Memorial Hospital in Redfield.
She is survived by her children, Janet (Jerry) Eaton of Redfield, Joanie (Dan) Gronso of Fargo, N.D., Mark (Pam) Edgar, Bruce (Leslie) Edgar both of Rockham, Chris (Rod) Pater of Sioux Falls, Carrie (Jeff) Gutenkauf of Pierre, and Jill (Roger) Nikolas of Sioux Falls; 20 grandchildren; 34 great-grandchildren; and brother, Ignatius Gruenwald of Calif.
She was preceded in death by her husband; grandson, Mathew Eaton; great-granddaughter, Ava Edgar; and her siblings, Myron, Jerome, James, Giles and Agatha.
