WESSINGTON SPRINGS — Mary F. Hines, 100, of Wessington Springs, passed away Wednesday, February 14, 2018.
Funeral service will be 10 a.m., Monday, February 19, at the Foothills Bible Fellowship Church in Wessington Springs. Burial will be in Prospect Hill Cemetery at Wessington Springs. Visitation will be Sunday from 2 to 4 p.m. at the church.
Mary Frances Baxter was born January 9, 1918, at Dickinson, N.D., to Franklin D. and Cora (Keller) Baxter. She graduated from St. Lawrence High School and received her teaching certificate from Wessington Springs College.
She was united in marriage to John W. Hines August 3, 1940. They couple resided north of Wessington Springs until moving into town in 1995. She was a member of the Town and Country Garden Club and the Dale Social extension club.
She is survived by her children, Verlyn (Janie) of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, James (Georgina) of Auburn, Wash., Claire (Linda) of Dell Rapids, and Fran (Larry) Peterson of Wessington Springs; 14 grandchildren; three stepgrandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren; 12 stepgrandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; and five stepgreat-great grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband; sons, Merle, John, and infant son, Galen; grandson, Michael; siblings, Sheldon, Merle, Carroll, Paul, and Ruth Hargens.
