Mary Jane Judy, 67, of Eldridge, Iowa

ELDRIDGE, Iowa — Mary Jane Judy, 67, of Eldridge, Iowa, formerly of Huron, passed away unexpectedly January 28, 2022.


Jane was born June 15, 1954, in Huron to Virgil and Marjorie Hart.  She was baptized and confirmed at St Martin’s Catholic Church. She graduated from Huron High School in 1972 and Huron College in 1975 with a degree in Elementary Education. She graduated a semester early and held a teaching position in Woonsocket for a year and a half.  


Jane and Mark Judy were married June 1976, (and later divorced) and lived in Flandreau and Tripp, before moving to Davenport, Iowa in 1992. 

Jane continued her career in teaching as a Para Educator and later held a position in the school administration office. She also worked as a ticket taker and usher at the Alder Theater in Davenport. Her hobbies included reading, sewing and crafts. Jane loved animals and always had a kitten by her side.  She also enjoyed cooking and volunteered making lunches for Habitat for Humanity crews and also helped with cooking and serving meals at the local homeless shelter. Jane was a member of Newcomb Presbyterian Church and a very active volunteer.  


Jane is survived by her daughter, Tiffany of Winston-Salem, N.C.; brothers David (Norma) Hart of Huron, Dennis (Patsy) Hart of Papillion, Neb., Douglas Hart of Huron; and sister, Judy (Bob) Overbay of Aberdeen; many nephew and nieces; and her fur baby, Chloe.


 Jane was preceded in death by her parents; nephew, Michael Hart; and niece, Jennifer Hart.


A memorial service will be held at Holy Trinity Catholic Church, Friday, June 24, 2022, at 10:30 a.m. followed by the burial at St. Martin’s Cemetery.
