HURON — Melonia “Babe” Giesel, 57, of Huron, passed away Saturday, January 5, 2019, at the Huron Regional Medical Center.
At her request, cremation has taken place and a celebration of life will be held at a later date.
Melonia Lea Giesel was born June 27, 1961, at Miller to Willard Herbert and Sherry Crile (Kelly) Giesel. When she was a year old, the family relocated to the Wilmer, Minn. area to be near the Rochester Hospital where Babe received medical care. In 1973, the family returned to Highmore where she attended Highmore High School. In 1981, she made Huron her home.
She had worked as a CNA at the Wessington Springs Nursing Home, Violet Tschetter Memorial Home, and SunQuest Healthcare Center. She had also been a cook for HRMC.
She is survived by her sisters, Sonia (Dan) Sullivan of Moorhead, Minn., Heather Matheny of Marietta, Ohio, and Dawn Rushdan of Blytheville, Ark.; her long time friend, Vaughn Ransom and his son, Brad Ransom; along with many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
Kuhler Funeral Home has been entrusted with her arrangements.
