Memorial Day events

WOLSEY — The Wolsey American Legion Memorial Day program will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday at the Wolsey Community Hall. A potluck meal will follow the program. Everyone is invited to attend.

VIRGIL — The Virgil American Legion Memorial Day program is planned at 10:30 a.m. Monday, May 28, at the American Legion Hall. A meal will follow the program. Everyone is invited to attend.

IROQUOIS — The Bensley- Rounds American Legion Post 280 of Iroquois will be hosting a Memorial Day Program at the Iroquois School South Gym at 10 a.m. Monday.
The guest speaker will be Sergeant Donald Zavesky of the 153rd Engineering Battalion of Huron. He returned last year from a tour to Iraq and Kuwait. Also speaking will be the Senior and Eighth-Grade Good Citizenship Recipients. Diane Perry will be providing music. A freewill meal will follow. The public is encouraged to attend.

ALPENA — Congressional candidate Dusty Johnson of Mitchell will be the guest speaker at the Alpena Memorial Day service at 10:30 a.m. Monday, May 28, in the Alpena Community Center. Service awards will be presented at the program. The Auxiliary will serve dinner after the service. Everyone is welcome to attend.

HURON — Pastor Joanne Nagele will be our honorary speaker at the 2018 Veterans Council Memorial Day Program. Joanne has been preaching the word of the Lord for 38 years.
Nagele has been the preacher at Our Saviors Lutheran Church since June 1, 2017, and is a Navy veteran herself, serving for three years, as a Personnelman 3rd class, stationed at the Naval Air Station in New Jersey.
