MILLER — Photo finishes were needed to declare the winners in both the Pump-N-Pak pure stock and WISSOTA street stock divisions on Saturday night at Miller Central Speedway.

Jayden Michaelsohn of Aberdeen edged Brenden Rassel of Woonsocket at the line to claim his seventh win of the season. Michaelsohn holds just a 6-point lead over Rassel in the division’s point standings heading into the final two races of the season.

Wyatt Brooker of Tulare, who started eighth in the 11-car field, worked his way up to finish third. Aaron Holan of Kimball and Mike Hammill of Miller were fourth and fifth, respectively.

Hammill and Rassel won the pure stock heat races.

James Hoing of Kimball edged Jodie Michaelsohn of Aberdeen at the checkered flag to claim his third win of the season in the WISSOTA street stock division. It was his first win since recording back-to-back wins on May 30 and June 13.

The victory moved Hoing to within 21 points of Winner’s Broc Stout in the street stock standings with two races remaining in the season.

Preston Blackwell of Wessington, who started 10th in the 20-car street stock field, was third, followed by Clifford Houser of Kimball and Wade Tirrel of White.

Stout and Spence Pollock of Orient won the street stock heat races.

Curt Kranz of Watertown held off Josh Skorczewski of Aberdeen to earn his first win of the season at Miller Central Speedway in the WISSOTA late model division on Saturday.

Kranz was one of just six drivers to finish the 20-lap feature race.

Chad Becker of Aberdeen, who is the current late model points leader at MCS, was one of the first to exit the speedway after a harrowing incident, which also included Rich Thomas of Aberdeen. Becker was spun during the early stages of the main event and Thomas was unable to check up in time before hitting Becker’s car. Both drivers required medical attention, but were able to walk away.

Dustin Arthur of St. Lawrence, who led early in the race, was third in the main event, followed by Curt Gelling of Aberdeen and Lyndon Bolt of Rapid City.

David Carlson of Huron and Becker won the late model heat races.

Mike Nichols of Watertown won his second straight and third overall WISSOTA Midwest modified main event Saturday in Miller.

Nichols pulled away to win over Tracy Johnson of Lake Preston. Adam Brotherton of Huron, who leads the Midwest modified point standings, was third, followed by Brad Kopecky of Miller, who is currently second in the standings, and Dawson Zabel of Selby.

Winning the Midwest modified heat races were Brotherton, Johnson and Cory Berquist of Huron.

Jayson Good of Watertown secured his second win of the season in the WISSOTA modified division on Saturday.

Alex Guthmiller of Huron, who started 12th, tailed Good across the finish line in second. Mike Stears of Hecla was third, followed by Trevor Anderson of Watertown and Tony Konold of Clear Lake.

Good and Konold were the modified heat race winners.

Kelly Duffy of Winner rode the high line to his third straight win in the WISSOTA super stock division on Saturday. The victory moved him one point ahead of Kipp DeGroot of Platte, who was second in the feature race, in the super stock standings.

Cody Martin of Mitchell was third, followed by Dale Tomes of Dell Rapids and Jeremy North of Huron.

DeGroot won the lone super stock heat race.
