HURON — The Huron seventh-grade volleyball teams swept a pair of matches against Brookings on Thursday.
The Tigers won the A-match with set scores of 25-22 and 25-17.
Aly Davis was 12 of 15 serving with five aces for Huron, while Hylton Heinz was 7 of 10 with three aces. Hailey Rogers was 7 of 9 serving, while Jencie Goergen was 4 of 4 with an ace and Chloe Carr was 3 of 4 with an ace.
Goergen tallied four kills on 6 of 6 attacks for the Tigers. Carr was 8 of 9 hitting with two kills and Heinz was 3 of 5 hitting with two kills.
Huron won the B-match with scores of 25-9 and 25-4.
Ellie Puterbaugh had 11 aces on 13 of 14 serving for the Tigers, whle Jeselyn Matthews had seven aces on 15 of 17 serves. Kyla Peskey was perfect on six serves with five aces, while Libby Heyer was 4 of 5 with two aces. Rogers and
Olivia Thompson each had an ace.
Hannah Ferguson had a kill on two hits, while Thompson also had a kill.
Huron will host Pierre on Monday.
Brookings used set scores of 25-11 and 29-27 to get past the Huron seventh graders in the A-match on Thursday.
Maddie Jurgens was 6 of 8 serving with an ace for the Tigers, while Aurora Dreyer was 4 of 5 with an ace. Roxy Glanzer tallied five kills on 10 of 11 attacks, while Jurgens was 4 of 4 hitting with two kills and Hannah Purintun had two kills on 2 of 2 hitting.
Jurgens also recorded eight assists in the match.
Brookings also won the B-match with set scores of 25-11 and 25-19.
Ashlyn Grace was 6 of 7 serving with three aces for Huron, while Keira Graff was 3 of 4 serving with an ace. Graff and Dreyer each had a kill.
Both Huron teams are 2-7 and will host Pierre on Monday.
