WILLOW LAKE — Mike Hovde, 53, of the Willow Lake/Vienna community, passed away Saturday, March 3, 2018, at the Sanford USD Medical Center Saturday after a sudden illness.
A Celebration of Life will be 2 p.m., Saturday, March 10, in the Willow Lake Gym. A private burial will be at a later date in the Good Hope Lutheran Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Friday at the Willow Lake Gym.
Michael Dean Hovde was born December 26, 1964, at Watertown to Kurwin and Mary (Swanson) Hovde. He graduated from Willow Lake High School in 1983. He was united in marriage to Michelle Stickle June 22, 1991. He lived in the Clark area working at an elevator and managing the Whiskey River Feedlot. He married Cheryl Berens September 29, 2001. He raised cattle, and owned Hovde Gravel Construction.
He is survived by his wife, Cheryl; children, Zachary, Savannah, and Maggie; his parents; siblings, Scott (Connie) Hovde, and Brian (Sandra) Hovde; and a host of cousins, aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and in-laws, along with many friends.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Sigurd and Elnora Hovde, Jay Swanson, and Dick and Helen Nehls; and uncle, Kenny Swanson.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Willow Lake Alumni Association or the Good Hope Lutheran Cemetery Fund.
