PEWAUKEE, Wis. — Milford Ray “Dutch” Cheeseman, 90, of Pewaukee, Wis., passed away peacefully Thursday, July 20, 2017.
Inurnment will be at Bushnell National Cemetery in Florida on August 11, 2017. A private memorial will be held with the family at a later date.
He was born October 16, 1926, in Madison to Vere A. and Anna H. (Balster) Cheeseman. His early years were spent in Huron. He was united in marriage to Patricia Ruth Mutch in 1952.
He and his brothers owned Cheeseman Brothers Construction. He was hired as the Beadle County Highway Superintendent, and in 1965, moved to Brookings to become Brookings County Highway Superintendent until his retirement in 1988.
He is survived by his daughters, Rosanne (James Van Deurzen) Cheeseman of Mazomanie, Wis., Ruth (Jeff) Leonard of Boise, Idaho, and Barbara (Tim) Swartos of Sacramento, Calif.; five grandchildren, Stephanie Leonard, Rebecca Leonard, Brooke (Alex) Mullett Ponce, Andrew (Sarah) Mullett, and Katrina Swartos; four great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his brothers, Robert V. Cheeseman, and Duane E. Cheeseman.
The family would like to thank the staff of Matthews of Pewaukee, Wis., Matthews of Hartland and Serenity Hospice for their thoughtful care.
