Miller boys finish second at Action Club Invitational

HIGHMORE — The Miller boys’ finished second at the Action Club Invitational on Saturday.
The Rustlers finished with 16 points, which put them five points behind Philip for the top spot in the varsity team standings.
Dupree was third with 28, followed by North Central at 45 and Highmore-Harrold at 59.
Pierce Baumberger turned in the winning time of 16:17.95 for Miller in the varsity boys’ race, while teammate Alex Schumacher was third at 16:47.93.
Wakey Burns was the top finisher for Philip with a time of 16:25.12 to claim the second spot. Philip had five of the top eight runners.
Isaiah Gortmaker was 13th for Miller at 18:14.32, while Jordan Erfman was 30th for Highmore-Harrold at 19:03.58.
With five of the top nine runners, including the medalist, Potter County claimed the varsity girls’ title with six points.
Faulkton Area was second at 26, followed by Stanley County at 35, North Central at 36 and Miller at 44.
Dannika Kaup of Potter County won the girls’ varsity race in 19:59.45, while Autumn Fallis of Highmore-Harrold was second at 20:19.87.
Gabby Werdel was 12th for Miller at 21:57.22 and was followed by Alexis Roesler of Wessington Springs at 22:04.25.
