FAULKTON — Freshman Pierce Baumberger had a winning time of 17 minutes, 16 seconds to help the Miller boys’ cross country team to the title during the Lakeside Invitational on Wednesday.
Alex Schumacher was third for the Rustlers at 17:37, while Caden Gortmaker was ninth at 18:31 and Tyson Kindle was 12th at 18:48.
Dawson Hale of Highmore-Harrold was seventh at 18:14, while AJ Neely of Wessington Springs was 13th at 18:58 and Daniel Ayoroa of James Valley Christian was 14th at 18:59.
Northwestern was second to Miller in the varsity boys’ team standings, while Frederick Area was third at 40. Faulkton Area and James Valley Christian both finished at 55, with the Trojans earning the fourth spot via tiebreaker.
Potter County won the girls’ team title with 11 points. Aberdeen Roncalli had 21 points to edge Frederick Area by a point for second. James Valley Christian was fourth at 39, while Miller was seventh at 62.
Heidi Olson of Mobridge-Pollock won the girls’ varsity race in 19:12, while Danika Kaup of Potter County was second at 20:27.
Autumn Fallis of Highmore-Harrold was sixth at 20:36, while Abby Hasart of JVC, was eighth at 21:02. Payton Fox of Sunshine Bible Academy was 13th at 21:56, while Madeline Nye of Miller was 20th at 22:56.
