Huron golfers compete against Mitchell

HURON — Huron’s Mason Rozell turned in the low round of the day, but it was Mitchell claiming the team win against the Tigers in a boys’ golf dual on Thursday at Broadland Creek Golf Course.
After shooting a 41 on the opening nine holes, Rozell turned in a 37 on the back nine for a round of 79. He finished three strokes ahead of Mitchell’s Max Tupper, who finished at 81 to claim the second spot.
Ethan Huber was third for the Kernels with an 82, while teammates Max Dailey and Nick Bennett had scores of 83 to share the fourth spot with Landon Roberts of Huron.
Will Smith of Huron was seventh with an 86, while Kade Clark of Mitchell was eigth with an 87 and Jacob Wehde of Huron was ninth with 90.
With six of the top seven golfers, Mitchell ran away with the win in the junior varsity competition on Thursday.
Jackson Childs was the medalist for the Kernels with a 79. He was followed by teammates Liam Fergen, Ben Pommer and Jager Jureck with scores of 89, 97 and 104, respectively.
Landon Mohr was Huron’s top JV golfer with a 113 to share the fifth spot with Mitchell’s Sam Stahl.
