HURON — Mitchell emerged with a pair of victories against Huron in a spring baseball doubleheader on Monday at Klock Field.
Briggs Havlik had a pair of hits, including a double to lead the Kernels to a 5-2 victory in the opening game.
Bryce Steffen and Jake Wehde each had a pair of hits and both had doubles for Huron. Also recording doubles were Emerson DeVries and Kobe Busch.
Jackson Sadler turned in a complete-game effort on the mound for Mitchell. He allowed two runs on eight hits, with three strikeouts and a walk.
Steffen pitched three innings for Huron, allowing five runs on five hits, with a strikeout and three walks.
Busch pitched three scoreless innings of relief for the Tigers, with three strikeouts and a walk. Chipper Shillingstad pitched the final inning, allowing no runs on a hit and a walk.
Mitchell then collected a 7-1 victory in the second game, which was a junior varsity contest.
Jared Miller tripled to lead the Kernels.
Huron was limited to just three hits in the game, with Peyton Grace accounting for the lone RBI.
Matt Katz, Jett McGirr, Dylan Crandall and Teagon Pfitzer shared the pitching duties for the Tigers.
Huron will be at Aberdeen today for a 5 p.m. doubleheader.
