MOPS plans annual 5K fundraiser

The Super Woman, Tough Guy Family Fun Run is a great way to get outside, have fun and support both the Helping Hands Thrift Store and the MOPS (Mothers of Preschoolers), said one of the organizers of Saturday’s event.
“We appreciate the support from the community and businesses,” said Samantha Wipf, a stay-at-home mother of two who has been with the MOPS program for two years. “We do this fundraiser to keep the membership costs down so more moms can join.”
The Super Woman, Tough Guy fun run  begins at 8 a.m. Saturday at Putters and Scoops. A 5K will be held for runners, with a two mile course for walkers. A free 1/4 mile run is planned for kids.

Prizes will be awarded to the winners.
Entry fee is $30, but get a $5 discount by bringing two food pantry items on the day of the race.
All funds raised will be split between MOPS and the Helping Hands Thrift Store.
Wipf, who has daughters ages 3-year-old and 10-month, said the MOPS program offers group activities and snacks for the kids and guest speakers and activities for their mothers. They meet during the school year twice a month, the second and fourth Tuesday, from 9:30 to 11:30 a.m. at Living Hope Alliance Church.
Sessions will resume in the fall.
“The moms all meet together,” Wipf said “It definitely gives me some sanity — just adult conversation. Especially for a stay-at-home mom. You can go all day without talking to an adult. It gives me that little break and adult conversation.”
