ABERDEEN — The Huron eighth-grade volleyball teams emerged with a split against Aberdeen Central on Monday.
The Tigers won the A-match with set scores of 20-25, 25-19 and 15-9 to improve to 2-0.
Hyland Heinz was 11 of 14 serving with five aces for Huron, while Jencie Goergen was 5 of 7 serving with two aces and Joselyn Matthews was perfect on 14 serves with an ace.
Aly Davis was 9 of 14 hitting with four kills for the Tigers, while Goergen had three kills on 6 of 6 hitting. Heinz and Chloe Carr each had two kills.
Heinz also recorded 10 assists, while Goergen had six assists and Ava Ulvestad had a block.
Aberdeen Central claimed the B-match with set scores of 25-7 and 25-17.
Adisyn Zavesky was 1 of 2 serving and had an assist for the Tigers, while Kaitlyn Florey had a kill.
Aberdeen Central swept Huron in a pair of seventh-grade volleyball matches on Monday.
The Golden Eagles won the A-match with set scores of 23-25, 25-21 and 15-8.
Kya Tschetter recorded five aces on 9 of 10 serving for Huron, while Olivia Purintun had four aces on 7 of 8 serving. Jaelee Olson was 10 of 11 serving with three aces, while Natalie Kinsley and Camdyn Fuchs each had two aces and Isabelle Kremer had an ace.
Kremer had three kills for the Tigers on 9 of 9 hitting, while Tschetter and Kinsley each had two kills.
Aberdeen Central claimed the B-match with set scores of 25-15 and 25-13.
Allyra Kerlin, Lilliana Miller, Kinzy Stiefel and Purintun each had an ace for Huron. Kerlin was also 1 of 1 hitting.
