MV-P, Ipswich golfers win titles in Miller

MILLER — The Mt. Vernon-Plankinton girls’ and the Ipswich boys’ golf teams won titles during the Miller Invitational on Thursday.
With three of the top five golfers in the field, Mt. Vernon-Plankinton recorded a team score of 386 to win the girls’ title, while Lyman had the only other team score and was second at 512.
Kaylin Bohr and Reagan Klooz both carded scores of 89 to finish first and second, respectively, for Mt. Vernon-Plankinton, while teammate Kaleigh Erdhal was fifth with an 102.
Erin Moncur of Miler finished a stroke off the pace of the top two golfers with a 90 to claim the third spot, while Cora Cleveland of Lyman was fourth at 102.
Abbyrose Miller of James Valley Christian just missed a top-five finish. She finished at 103 to claim the sixth spot.

Zoe Tvedt of Highmore-Harrold was eighth with a 109.
Wessington Springs teammates  Chloe Munsen, Sierra Burg and Emma Lammers finished in spots No. 9-11, respectively, with scores of 115, 121 and 122.
Ipswich finished with a total of 326 to edge Aberdeen Christian for the boys’ title by two points. Mt. Vernon-Plankinton was third at 381, followed by James Valley Christian at 384, Lyman at 404 and Miller at 435.
Aberdeen Christian had three of the top five golfers, including medalist Judah Aderhold, who finished with a 70. Cramer Johnson and Jett Becker were fourth and fifth, respectively, with scores of 82 and 84.
Riley Gilbert of Ipswich was second at 75, followed by teammate Dylan Northrop with a 78.
Cory Breland of Miller was seventh with an 85, while Carter Wells of JVC was ninth at 86. Max Ring of Highmore-Harrold also carded an 86 to claim the final spot in the top 10, while Richard Rink of JVC was 11th at 87.
Trevor Ryan of Highmore-Harrold finished with a 90, while teammate Trevor Bruegeman had a 116.
Monte Azure and Jacob Messmer of Wessington Springs finished with scores of 100 and 101, respectively, while teammate Gunnar Brandenburg shot a 109.
Zachary Hofer had a 105 for JVC, while teammates William Waldner and Brandon Burket had scores of 106 and 107, respectively.
Rounding out the lineup for Miller were Mike Winsell at 108, Glenn Aymar at 119 and Deegan Seidel at 123.
