HURON — The National Rife League 22 Shoot (NRL22) held Sunday at the Beadle County Sportsmen’s Club.
The match was organized and promoted by the South Central Handgunners League and the South Dakota Long Range Club.
The shooters competed in seven shooting stages consisting of different targets, distances and positions. The stages by design are a random mix of many different shooting disciplines, such as service rifle, silhouette, and field targets. The purpose of this style of shooting provides entry level skills for the larger center fire long range competitions.
The event gave competition to shooters as young as 11 years old.  Shooters attended from as far away as Platte and Garretson.

The NRL22 League is the fastest growing rimfire shooting sport in the nation, with clubs in almost every state. Plans are in the works to arrange for at least three clubs in East River South Dakota alone.  Matches are open to the general public.
Information on the NRL22 events can be found on the South Central Handgunners or South Dakota Long Range Club Facebook pages.
The Youth Class winners were Riley Winegar, Dillon Hickey, and Blake Hofer.
The Base Class event winners were Joseph Schnetzer, Tim Weigel, and Kevin Flottmeyer.
The Open Class was taken by Dominic Plunkett, Jason Wolfe, and Cody Daly.
