HURON — Larry Neuharth, Beadle County’s Weed and Pest Supervisor, was named Outstanding Weed Supervisor of the Year at the state weed and pest conference Feb. 15 in Rapid City.
Neuharth began his career as weed and pest supervisor in 2001. During this time, the Beadle County program has grown from working out of the county shop to acquiring its own facility and grounds east of Huron.

This facility has an office area, chemical, parts and materials storage, and shop and covered equipment storage.
Under his supervision the four-wheeler sprayer rigs were upgraded to safer and more reliable UTV models.
Neuharth has worked on several SDSU Extension W.E.E.D. research projects, ranging from herbicide trials to biological control projects.
Numerous noxious weed species plots were established with his cooperation.
