Oahe gets past All-Stars in exhibition game

HURON — After building a 5-1 lead in the opening period, the Oahe Capitals held on for an 8-5 victory against the Huron All-Stars in an exhibition game Saturday at Bergman Arena.
Caden Davis had a pair of goals for the Capitals in the opening period, while Raef Briggs, Adam Ankrun and Spencer Wedin each had goals.
The All-Stars closed the scoring in the first period with a goal by Walker Schiltz. He was assisted on the play by Carson Duba and Izaiah Phillips.
Oahe added to its advantage with the first two goals of the second period. Ankron and Ryan Wadin had the goals.
Huron answered with the final two goals of the second period to narrow the lead for the Capitals to 7-3.

Phillips had the first on a pass from Tanner Berquist, while Berquist had the second on a pass from Schiltz.
The All-Stars got as close as they would get in the third period with Schiltz scoring his second goal of the game. Duba and Phillips assisted on the play.
Andy Gordon would cap the scoring for Oahe with a goal to stretch the advantage back to four goals at 8-4.
Phillips would find the net for a second time for the All-Stars with 4:28 remaining to make it 8-5. He scored on a pass from Schiltz.
Kieran Duffy earned the win in the net for the Capitals with 22 saves.
Marty Boetel and Cooper Letcher shared time in the net for Huron and stopped 44 of the 52 shots they faced. The  two teams squared off in another exhibition game on Sunday in Pierre, but results from that game were not available at press time.
