HURON — ‘Peeps build a better world’ was the theme for this year’s Office Peeps diorama contest at the Huron Public Library. Each year the library hosts the contest around Easter, where the public is invited to build dioramas using Peeps, incorporating the theme into their work and displaying their scene to be judged. Dioramas were handed in during National Library Week for the public to see, and the final judging was made Monday by Russ and Amy from Office Peeps, contest sponsors.
The winners of the contest for the families and groups category were Isabel and Sara Rogers for first place, who titled their diorama, “Build a better world,” The winning diorama is pictured below. In second place was Christopher and Reva Krogstad’s diorama titled “Love your world and the Peeps in it.” The kids category was ages 4 to 12 and in first place was Abigail Littlefield’s diorama titled “Day at the Park,” and in second place a diorama titled “Park Peeps.” by Josie Vlieger. The ‘PEEPles Choice’ award also went to Christopher and Reva Krogstad.
The contest has become increasingly popular since it began, the first year’s theme was “Books put into movies,” which was mostly staff applicants. Last year there was much more public interest and this year the public were inquiring and eagerly waiting for the contest to take place.
