O’Gorman records sweep against Tigers

SIOUX FALLS — The Sioux Falls O’Gorman Knights recorded a 55-36 victory over the Huron Tigers during a Class AA boys’ basketball game held on Saturday night in Sioux Falls.
It was the second straight loss for the Tigers, who dropped a six-point decision to No. 2 Yankton on Tuesday night, after they had reeled off six straight wins.
An improved season record of 5-4 is now held by the Knights, as the team was led by Luke Ronsiek with 15 points and nine rebounds, while Jack Cartwright added another nine points for the team.
Teegan Evers led the Tigers with 13 points. Tanner Evers and Kobe Busch each added another eight points, as Huron falls to 6-3 with the loss. The normally hot shooting Tigers ended the night only 1-18 from behind the arc and ended the first half trailing 29-14, the team’s lowest first-half output of the season.
Huron will return to the court when the Tigers host the Aberdeen Central Golden Eagles on Friday, then welcome top-rated and undefeated S.F. Lincoln to Huron Arena on Saturday night. Sioux Falls O’Gorman will host Yankton on Tuesday.

SIOUX FALLS — The Sioux Falls O’Gorman Lady Knights recorded at 63-27 sweep over the Huron Tigers, during Class “AA” girls’ basketball action on Saturday night in Sioux Falls.
Emma Ronsiek led the Lady Knights, now with an improved season record of 7-1, with 15 points, while another 11 were added by Ndjakalenga Mwenetanda to assist in the win.
Havyn Heinz led the Tigers with 10 points and four rebounds, while three shots from the three-point line were recorded by Sami Schoultz to tally another nine points and four rebounds. Huron fell to a record of 2-7 on the season with the loss.
The Huron Tigers are set to travel to Aberdeen on Friday to tangle with the Golden Eagles, while Sioux Falls O’Gorman will host the Yankton Gazelles on Tuesday.
