One seat open on city commission

HURON – One seat is open for election this spring, to the Huron City Commission.
Prospective candidates have until Feb. 23 to turn in nominating petitions for the seat currently held by Bryan Smith.
Petitions are avaialbe at Huron City Hall.

Smith has announced he is seeking re-election to the Huron City Commission in the April election.
In his first term, he served as the finance and public works commissioner.
He is employed as vice president of lending at Dakotaland Federal Credit Union.
He has also been involved with various community and professional organizations.

Three of the five seats on the Beadle County Commission will be up for election this spring. Nominating petitions were able to be circulated beginning the first of the year and must be turned in by March 27 to the Beadle County Auditor’s office. The seats open are: Commissioner 1 - incumbent Denis Drake - prospective candidates must live in the area in blue on the map. Commissioner 3 - incumbent Tom Hansen - prospective candidates must live in the area in magenta on the map.  Commissioner 5 - incumbent Larry Mattke - prospective candidates must live in the area in grey on the map.
