Patriots, Spartans earn spots in 281 Conference consolation title game

HURON — The Hitchcock-Tulare Patriots will play for the consolation championship on Thursday, as they led at all quarter stops and downed the Sunshine Bible Academy Crusaders 55-50 in a consolation semifinal Tuesday afternoon at Huron Arena.
Ty Hofer scored 16 points, grabbed nine rebounds, caused seven steals and handed out five assists to lead the Patriots, who improve to 2-7 with the win. Zach Binger chipped in 13 points for Hitchcock-Tulare.
Jade Burma scored 17 points and claimed 12 rebounds - both game-high totals - to lead the Crusaders, who remain in search of their first win, falling to 0-9. Ross Engle had 12 points and four assists and Travis Hass tossed in 10 points for SBA.
SBA will play Iroquois for seventh place in the tournament on Tuesday, at approximately 10:30 a.m. The Patriots will play Wessington Springs for fifth place on Thursday, at approximately 1:30 p.m.

Wessington Springs 57, Iroquois 53
The Wessington Springs Spartans posted 20 points in both the third and fourth quarters, coming from behind and defeating the Iroquois Chiefs 57-53 in consolation action at the 281 Conference Tournament Tuesday afternoon.
Jon Witte returned to action and led the Spartans with 19 points in the game. No other Wessington Springs player dented double figures, as the Spartans move to 2-7 on the season. They will play Hitchcock-Tulare on Thursday afternoon in the fifth-place game.
Iroquois got 14 points from Keistan Dubro. Jacob Bich scored 11 and claimed six rebounds. Caleb Waldner also had six boards in the game.
The Chiefs will take on Sunshine Bible Academy Thursday morning in the seventh-place game of the tournament.
