Post 7 defeats Lake Norden

BENJAMIN CHASE/PLAINSMAN Huron’s Kolby Hofer slides in to home as Lake Norden’s Dawson Noem applies the tag for the out during an American Legion game Thursday at Memorial Field.

HURON – The Huron Post 7 Tigers’ offense exploded for seven runs in the second inning to put the game out of reach against the Lake Norden Lakers Thursday, coming away with a 9-1 victory at Memorial Field.

Bubba Peterson tossed four innings, allowing one run on four hits and two walks, striking out five.

The only thing that could stop the Post 7 offense was a torrential downpour that came with the bases loaded in the bottom of the fourth inning, calling the game early with a 9-1 Huron victory.

Peterson was the sole Post 7 hitter with multiple hits with a pair of singles. Layne Wenzel reached base three times with a single and two walks.

Logan Leyendecker had a double and a stolen base for the Tigers while Mason Davis added a steal.

The Tigers will travel to Pierre Monday with a three-game winning streak.
