Huron Baseball played a doubleheader in honor of local heroes Zachary Tomczak and Daniel Bartels at Memorial Park Stadium on Monday. Tomczak was 24 and on his fourth tour of Iraq when he died in combat in 2007 in Baghdad, Iraq. He was the son of Jackie and Blaise Tomczak. Bartels was 22 when he was killed in Mosul, Iraq, in 2005. He was the son of Delvin Bartels and Deb and Howard Pearl. In their honor, the doubleheader was dedicated to them. Pictured from left are Blaise Tomczak, who threw out the first pitch, and the Boy Scout color guard from Troop 222 of Huron Cian Halbur, Eric Harms, Jacob Harms, Sean Meyers, Jeramiah Meyer, Sawyer Ptak, and Scott Ptak.
