Post 74 Bandits sweeps Huron Post 7

HURON – Brookings Post 74 Bandits pitching was able to stifle the Huron Post 7 Tigers bats throughout Thursday’s doubleheader at Memorial Field, defeating Post 7 13-3 and 11-0.

The Tigers struck first in the opening game, taking advantage of Brookings misplays to put two runs on the board. Between the second and fourth innings, Brookings put 12 runs on the board, coming away with the 13-3 win.

Mason Davis made the start for Huron, going 3 1/3 innings, allowing 10 runs on 10 hits and five walks. Davis struck out two Bandits’ hitters.

Logan Leyendecker closed out the game with 3 2/3 innings on the mound, allowing three runs on three hits and a walk.

Layne Wenzel led the Tigers’ offensive attack with a double and a single. Leyendecker added a stolen base.

Three Brookings arms shut down Huron in the second game en route to a 11-0 Bandit victory.

Kolby Hofer opened the game on the mound for Post 7, tossing four innings, allowin g11 runs on 12 hits and a walk, striking out two. Tommie Martin closed the game with a hitless inning of relief, allowing one walk.

The Huron offense only tallied a single hit and two walks during the game.

The Tigers moved to 7-15 heading into today’s doubleheader against Aberdeen at Memorial Field.
