Poyer leads CBHC girls to victory

ALEXANDRIA — The Custer Battlefield Highway Conference and the Cornbelt Conference emerged with a split in a pair of all-stars games on Tuesday.
Sanborn Central-Woonsocket’s Megan Poyer had 15 points to lead the Custer Battlefield Highway Conference to a 74-62 win in the girls’ game.
Courtney Menning of Corsica-Stickney and Mikaela Cassidy of Mt. Vernon/Plankinton each had 12 points for the CBHC, while Ethan teammates Karly Gustafson and Callie Hohn added nine and eight points, respectively.

Shannon Sokolowski of Irene-Wakonda led the Cornbelt Conference with 16 points, while Megan Guericke of Hanson had 11 points. Jordan Engbrecht of Canistota had nine points, while Freeman teammates Josei Fuhrmann and Hannah Eberts each had seven points.
The Cornbelt Conference emerged with a 101-74 victory in the boys’ game.
Trey King of Irene-Wakonda had 22 points to lead six players in double figures for the Cornbelt Conference. Brodee Sherman of Viborg-Hurley had 17 points and was followed by Jamin Arena of Bridgewater-Emery with 16 points and Trey Bohlmann of Menno with 15 points. Sawyer Schultz of Bridgewater-Emery and Payden Haiar of Hanson each added 10 points.
Trey Ulmer of Sanborn Central-Woonsocket, Alec Nelson of Mitchell Christian and Javen Holan of Kimball/White Lake all finished with 11 points for the CBHC. Kordell Kiehn of Kimball/White Lake and Sawyer Senska of Sanborn Central-Woonsocket each had 10 points, while Spens Schlicht of Sanborn Central-Woonsocket added seven points.
