MILLER —It was a cool night with rain all around the area, but there were 69 cars in the pits and an excellent crowd at Miller Central Speedway Saturday night.
It was “Race of Champions” night sponsored by Prostrolllo Motors of Huron, with all feature winners in the WISSOTA classes earning starting spots in the Race of Champions at the WISSOTA 100 in September.
There was a fast tacky track for the features.
The Pump N Pak Pure Stock main got things going early. Fifth-place starter Jordan Rawstern took the lead by turn three and never looked back, followed by Mike Hammill, Jaida Sanderson, Trevor Ryan and Destrie Morris. It was Rawstern’s 15th feature win in the class, putting him third on the list.
The WISSOTA Street Stocks started off with a bang, as a five-car tangle in turns 3 & 4 took place on the first lap.
Jayden Bogh went off on the hook, Jordan Kott limped to the pits and called it a night. Travis Oxandaburu was able to restart after a trip to the work area.
James Hoing led the first lap, but then Zach Pollock got by after a few laps of side by side racing and led most of the way.
Broc Stout got up to second and closed in. With two laps to go Stout made his move on the outside going into turn one and finally took over in turn four. It was Stout over Pollock with Hoing, Trajan Schmidt and Luke Johnson rounding out the top five. It was Stout’s 26th feature checkered flag at the Miller Central Speedway.
The WISSOTA Midwest Modifieds rolled out 21 strong, with Tanner Zwiefel beating David Carlson into turn one from the outside pole. Carlson stayed on his bumper and nearly grabbed the lead on lap 10 from the outside but Tanner held on for a very enthusiastic win.
It was his second win at the track, with the first being almost exactly three years ago, on June 26, 2016.
Cole Searing, Carlson, Adam Brotherton and Lorin Johnson completed the top five.
The WISSOTA Modified field was thinned by weather and racers still planting.
Jayson Good took off from the outside pole and led all the way over Dale Ames, Alex Guthmiller, Duke Erickson and Dylan Zabel. It was Good’s second win at the track.
The WISSOTA Super Stocks put on one of the best races of the night.
Kipp DeGroot led off of the pole and stretched his lead, but soon a restart closed up the field and he suddenly had Cole Searing and Trevor Nelson snapping at his heels.
It was constant side by side racing between the top three with Nelson taking the lead on lap eight.
