MILLER — Trevor Nelson of Warner held off a strong challenge from Kipp DeGroot of Platte to secure his seventh feature win in the WISSOTA super stock division on Saturday at Miller Central Speedway.
Nelson, who started fifth, took the lead on lap six and built a sizeable advantage before the field was regrouped with a late-race caution. Nelson and DeGroot then swapped the top spot for the next several laps before Nelson prevailed for the win.
Caleb Yost of Miller was third, followed by Huron drivers Jeremy North and Austin Arbogast.
Lorin Johnson of Miller pulled away to secure his 79th feature win at his home track in the WISSOTA Midwest modified main event.
Justin Froemming of Garfield, Minn., who started alongside Johnson on the front row, was second. Cory Berquist of Huron was third, followed by Kyle Knouse of Huron and Lane Johnson of Miller.
Josh Skorczewski of Abereen, who claimed the WISSOTA late model track title in Miller this season, passed Nick Grehl of Hitchcock on the fifth lap en route to his eight feature win at MCS. Grehl would hold on to the second spot, while Curt Kranz of Watertown was third. Dustin Arthur of St. Lawrence and John Hoefert of Sioux Falls were fourth and fifth, respectively.
Jayson Good of Watertown inked his first win at the Miller track in the WISSOTA modified division. Ryan Nelson of Madison, Minn., was second, followed by Dale Ames of Huron, Arne Anderson of Watertown and Trevor Anderson of Watertown.
Preston Blackwell of Miller secured the win in the WISSOTA street stock feature race for his seventh career win in Miller. Zach Pollock, who led the first two laps, was second, followed by Maria Broksieck of Goodwin, Luke Johnson of Miller and Jordan Kott of Platte.
Ferlin Sheridan of Aberdeen topped the 4-car field to earn his fourth win in the pure stock feature race. Curtis Johnson of Miller was second, followed by Jackie Hoftiezer of Ft. Pierre and Bill Speirs of Miller.
Saturday’s event concluded the 2018 racing season at Miller Central Speedway.
