Ransom letter - 10-24-20

To the Editor:

I write this letter to endorse John McEnelly for South Dakota District 22 House of Representatives.

John and I taught at the Wolsey-Wessington School District for several years. It was during this time that I cam to know John.

As a teacher, John wanted his students to learn about the sciences, but equally important, he wanted students to acquire knowledge and experience in all aspects of education. John supported his students in academia, fine arts and athletics. His love of photography captured these moments when students excelled in pursuits that would ultimately inspire them to become citizens who would participate in the electoral process, support fine arts in their communities and use their gifts, talents and interests to inspire the next generation.

John served in the U.S. Marine Corps in Vietnam. Even through those turbulent times, John chose to serve our nation. The students learned in history that Vietnam was a divisive time in the United States. John showed them that no matter how difficult the times were, people could support their government, find unity and continue to make their lives better.

By voting for John, the constituents of our District will have a strong advocate for education.

John knows firsthand how important this remains for every student in our state. John’s former students and their families remain grateful for a man who not only taught them science, but taught them to embrace endeavors that make our lives better.
