“It kind of started as a hobby. Cole and I and a few other friends were getting cars,” said. Cody Daly, who constructed the track along with Cole Searing. “We just kind of wanted to have something for fun and then it kind of turned into why don’t we invite the guys from Aberdeen down.
“Hopefully it will turn into a yearly thing or even something more than that,” he said. “Maybe we’ll have a few shows during the year.”
Classes for the RC cars will include A mods (traxxas slash 2wd brushless) and B mods (traxxas slash 2wd brushed). Rules for the event will follow the dakota slidewayz rules, with the exception of steel drive shaft.
The entry fee for the event is $10, which will cover one car, with additional cars being $5 for any car beyong that.
The track itself is 75 foot long and 40 feet wide.
“Mike Stearns — a WISSOTA modified driver — got it started up in Aberdeen and they race on carpet,” said Daly who also has raced at DSFS. “We race on dirt enough, so we just thought we’d want to make a dirt track.
“We’re hoping a lot of cars show up and hope everybody likes it,” he said. “We got the track smoothed out and got it kind of running really good.”
