RCC edges W/WS/SC in finale

WESSINGTON SPRINGS — Rapid City Christian scored the lone touchdown of the game in the fourth quarter to hand Woonsocket/Wessington Springs/Sanborn Central its first loss of the season during the regular season finale for both teams on Friday.
Braylon Marshall reached the end zone on a 1-yard run to lift the Comets to a 7-0 victory.
Holden Havlik converted on 7 of 29 passes for 58 yards and carried the ball nine times for 27 yards to lead the Blackhawks, who finished the regular season at 7-1.
Ryder Michalek had two catches for 29 yards, while Brock Krueger had two catches for 19 yards for W/WS/SC. Tyson Eddy added 12 yards rushing on two carries.
Defensively, Cooper Goldammer had 13 tackles to lead the Blackhawks, while Eddy had 10 tackles.
Michalek, Havlik and Carter Giakowski all finished with six tackles, while Blake Larson had five tackles and an interception and Caleb Kneen had five tackles.
The two teams will square off again on Thursday in the opening round of the Class 11B playoffs. Rapid City Christian, which is now 6-2, will return to Wessington Springs for a 5 p.m., game against the Blackhawks.
