Reserve bank director to speak in Huron

HURON — Ron Wirtz the Regional Outreach Director for the Federal Reserve Bank of Minneapolis will be in Huron to give a presentation of the state of the South Dakota Economy along with getting an assessment from business and community leaders regarding the local economy.
The presentation is set for 8 a.m. on Tuesday, Nov. 27, at the Plains Dining & Recreation.  The public is invited to attend this breakfast meeting.  Space is limited, so to reserve your spot, call the Huron Chamber & Visitors Bureau at 352-0000.  
Wirtz’s primary responsibilities involve tracking current business conditions across the six-state Ninth Federal Reserve District, which includes Michigan’s Upper Peninsula, northwest Wisconsin, Minnesota, the Dakotas and Montana.
Wirtz tracks activity in employment and wages – which are central to the Federal Reserve’s dual mandate of promoting stable prices and maximum employment – along with construction, real estate, tourism and consumer spending.
Part of his work includes extensive outreach to business and community leaders, and he gives frequent speeches on Ninth District regional economies.
