FRANKFORT — Richard “Dick” Douglas Esser, 75, of Frankfort, passed away Wednesday, March 6, 2019, at Community Memorial Hospital in Redfield after a long battle with lung disease.
Dick’s wish was to be cremated. A Scriptural Prayer Service with Rosary will be 7 p.m. Friday, March 15, at Hyke Funeral Home in Redfield. In the spring, Mass of Christian Burial will be 10 a.m., Saturday, May 11, at St. Bernard Catholic Church in Redfield. Burial will follow in St. Mary’s Catholic Cemetery in Athol.
Richard was born February 13, 1944, in Redfield to Lawrence and Dora (Harford) Esser. He attended his high school years at Redfield High School. He was united in marriage to Juanita Gossard September 20, 1962. In 1976, he began working at S.D. Developmental Center until his retirement in 2009.
He is survived by his daughters, Lynette (Randy) Kuehn of Redfield, Kelly (Mike) Lambert of Frankfort, and Stacey (Rafe) Esser of Aberdeen; 10 grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; brother, Dave (Joyce) Esser; and sister-in-law, Midge Esser.
He was preceded in death by his parents; infant son, Joseph; siblings, Don Esser, and Joanne Davidson; stepfather, Emil Erickson; and his best friends, Howard Franz, and Kelly Aucoin.
