REDFIELD — Robert Cornelius DeGeest, 82, of Redfield, passed away Monday, October 30, 2017, at Redfield Care and Rehabilitation Center.
His funeral service will be 2:30 p.m., Saturday, November 4, at Thelen-Hyke Funeral Home in Redfield. Interment will follow in Greenlawn Cemetery in Redfield. Visitation with the family present will be prior to the service on Saturday from 1:30 p.m. to 2:30 p.m., at Thelen-Hyke Funeral Home.
Robert DeGeest was born February 13, 1935, in Miller to Cornelius and Grace (Wilson) DeGeest. He was raised in Miller and attended Miller High School. Later, he enlisted in the United States Army National Guard. He worked road construction for many years before moving to Redfield to work for the Redfield State Hospital and School. Upon his retirement, he continued to live in the Redfield community.
He loved music and outdoor activities such as fishing and pheasant hunting.
He is survived by his daughter, Connie Jo Casey of Glencoe, Minn.; sister, Mary Lou Sauville of Pomona, Calif.; grandsons, James, Kyle, and Garrett Casey; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his son, Bob; and five sisters, Isabel Lechtenburg, Vera Dean, Wilma Baule, and Opal Roach.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Thelen-Hyke Funeral Home.
