HURON – Four adults and two children have serious, although non-life threatening injuries after a one-vehicle rollover about six miles south of Huron Saturday night.
The Highway Patrol said Juan Hernandez, 32, of Huron, was driving a 2004 Toyota 4Runner northbound on Highway 37 just before 10 p.m. when he swerved to avoid a deer that had come onto the roadway.
He lost control and the vehicle rolled. Hernandez and the front seat passenger, Perfecto Morales, 25, of Huron, were wearing seatbelts.
Carmelina Lopez, 34, of Huron, and Ofelia Hernandez, 27, of Huron, were not wearing seatbelts and were ejected from the vehicle. Two children, ages four and two, were not properly restrained.
All six were transported to Huron Regional Medical Center, and the two adult females were later taken to a Sioux Falls hospital. Charges are pending against the driver.
