Roses to benefit United Way

HURON — A fresh bouquet of flowers from Walkers Flower Shop on Wednesday will do more than brighten someone’s day — it will also help support the United Way Heartland Region.
Wednesday will mark the 20th year that Jason and Ann Edleman have sponsored a rose promotion at Walkers Flower Shop to benefit United Way.
Edleman said she ordered 1,000 roses in all colors that will be offered Wednesday by the dozen for a $20 donation to United Way.
“We had done something like this before that we called Good Neighbor Day,” Edleman said. “We thought instead of giving the flowers away, we could do something to also help the community.

“My husband was on the board of United Way and so many different agencies and programs benefit from it,” she said. Her husband is manager at Farm Credit Services of America.
The Heartland Region United Way serves  31 agencies and 45 programs. The fundraising goal this year is $310,000.
