HURON — Ruby Preston, 82, of Huron, passed away Sunday, January 13, 2019, at the Huron Regional Medical Center.
Her funeral service will be 11 a.m., Monday, January 21,at Hope Lutheran Church. Burial will be in the Riverside Cemetery. Visitation with family present will be 5 to 7 p.m. Sunday at the Kuhler Funeral Home. A prayer service will be held at 6: p.m. Sunday at the Kuhler Funeral Home. 
Ruby was born April 24, 1936, to Fredrick and Hulda Reichert at Dimock. She attended school and graduated from Parkston High School. She then continued her education at Southern State Teacher’s College at Springfield where she earned her teaching degree. Then she taught for eleven years in rural South Dakota schools and in Sioux Falls.
On June 25, 1965, Ruby married Robert “Bob” Preston at Dimock.
Ruby was very active in the Huron community by volunteering as a Retired Senior Volunteer Program and helped with the Meals on Wheels program through the Huron Area Senior Center; she served as a Pink Lady for the Huron Regional Medical Center; and volunteered at the Huron elementary schools. She was also active with the Gideons International Auxiliary, Lioness Club International, the extension club “Domestic Engineers,” a pinochle club, and the Huron Rovers Camping Club.
She enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren, cooking, baking and card playing. Ruby also worked at Lewis Drug for many years. She was an active member of the Hope Lutheran Church.
Grateful for having shared in her life are her three children and their spouses, Todd and Michelle Preston of Huron, and their children, Sean, Luke, Levi, Joshua and America; Heather and Darin Hunhoff of Lakeville, Minn., and their children, Hannah, Nathan and Zach; and Jason and Becky Preston of Sumner, Wash., and their children, Isaac, Martina and Grace.
Ruby is also survived by two brothers and their wives, Carl and Linda Reichert of Parkston, and Herb and Sally Reichert of St. Cloud, Minn.; one sister and her husband, Selma and Larry Hakeman of Sun City, Ariz.; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Bob on January 8, 2009; three brothers, Ronald in infancy and David and Norbert Reichert; and three sisters, twins Rita and Ruth in infancy, and Sylvia Reichert.
