Rushmore pulls away against All-Stars

HURON — The top-ranked Rushmore Thunder scored the final five goals to pull away for a 10-4 victory against the Huron All-Stars on Sunday at Bergman Arena.
The two teams combined for seven goals in the opening period, which ended with Rushmore holding a 4-3 advantage.
Lucas Snyder had the opening goal for the All-Stars on a power play, with Thacher Dramstad and Carson Duba combining for the assist to even the score at 1-1.
Huron then took its first lead of the game with a goal less than a minute later on an unassisted shot by Xavier Erickson.
Rushmore needed just 24 seconds to even the game at 2-2, but the All-Stars regained the advantage led that  minute later as Rei Hoops scored on a pass from Duba on a power play.

The Thunder would score the final two goals to carry the 1-goal advantage into the second period.
Erickson tallied his second goal of the game for the All-Stars in the second period, scoring on a pass from Walker Schiltz.
Rushmore had a pair of goals in the second period to stretch its lead to 6-4.
The Thunder would find the net four times in the final period to pull away for the win.
Rushmore had a 44-10 shots-on-goal advantage in the game, with Huron goalie Jacob Wehde recording 34 saves.
John Young stopped six of the 10 shots he faced in the net for the Thunder.
The All-Stars will travel to face Brookings at 3:30 p.m. Saturday and then be in Mitchell for a 1 p.m. game Sunday.
