Huron High School
The halls of Huron High School are looking a little different this school year. Students and staff are spending their days masked, social distancing as much as space allows and cultivating routines that will ease the transition to distance learning if that should become a reality. It has been an adjustment, but the excitement of students and staff to be back together is undeniable.

The additional precautions seem worth the effort as students find relevance with the content they are expected to master in the classroom. When they walk through the door of Rita Cook’s Personal Finance class, students quickly realize what they are about to learn will impact nearly every aspect of their lives.

In a time when American’s are struggling financially and the insecurity is catalyzed by the  pandemic, students quickly identify the importance of prioritizing their personal savings and including an emergency fund as part of their financial future.

Washington 4-5 Center
Fourth grade students at the Washington 4-5 Center have been hard at work.

First off, they made it through their first round of N.W.E.A. tests!

Students are finding the main idea and important details in a story and expanding their vocabulary within their reading. In math, they are wrapping up place value and moving into multiplication so they are mastering their math facts day-by-day. Social studies has been spent locating and describing different landforms, bodies of water, and natural resources in the United States.

Along with all of this, students learned how to use Google Classroom and many different reading and math websites to enhance their learning. The fourth graders have also done a great job keeping their masks on.

We are so proud of their behavior and ability to stay masked. Students just celebrated homecoming with Hawaiian, western, and black and orange spirit days, and topped it off with the Washington float in the parade. Each student was able to be involved by creating a tiger paw or tiger head in art class that was displayed on the float.

Last but not least, students are able to join orchestra in fourth grade and they excited to attend their lessons each week.
