ATHOL — Scott Edward Rezabek, 52, of Athol, passed away Sunday, August 26, 2018, at his home after a battle with cancer.
A graveside service will be 10:30 a.m., Thursday, August 30, in the Athol Cemetery. Visitation will be Wednesday from 5 to 7 p.m. at Hyke Funeral Home.
Scott Rezabek was born February 1, 1966, in Redfield to Edward and Lola (Swagart) Rezabek. He attended Northwestern schools for 12 years. His childhood was filled with playing in the dirt with his farm toys, and playing with the family dog.
He farmed with his father three miles east of Athol and he loved being outdoors. When he was not working he could be found hunting, fishing in a nearby creek for Bullhead, or riding either his four-wheeler or his dirt bike. He loved animals, having a variety of pets that included his favorite dog, Shadow, raccoons, hamsters, guinea pigs, and he even tolerated a couple of cats. He also enjoyed collecting Snoopy (Peanuts) items.
He is survived by his father, Edward of Athol; sister, Kim Bell, of Athol; nephew, Josh Bell, of Sioux Falls; niece, Renea Halbur (Keith Gustafson) of Sherman; a great-niece, Releena Bell, of Sioux Falls; and many distant relatives from Kansas.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Lola Rezabek; and sister, Sue Ann Remare.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Hyke Funeral Home in Redfield, SD.
