Sept. 23-27 is Homecoming Week at HHS

HURON — With the theme “We Got the Beat,” students at Huron High School will celebrate Homecoming 2019 beginning with Monday’s coronation and continuing through Friday’s homecoming football game. Homecoming is an activity organized by the Huron High School Student Council.
Festivities begin Monday, which is “Eye of the Tiger” dress-up day for the students. At 7:30 p.m., coronation will take place in the Huron High School Auditorium, followed by the traditional ‘Burning of the H.’
Tuesday is “Thriftshop” dress up day and will be highlighted by the Huron Cheer and Dance Invitational at 5 p.m. in Huron Arena
Hallway decorating will begin Wednesday afternoon during “Crazy” dress-up day.
On Thursday, watch for headbands and leg warmers during “Let’s Get Physical” dress up day. Huron will host ESD rival Mitchell at 7 p.m. in volleyball at Huron Arena.
“Our House” is the dress-up theme for Friday, as students have the opportunity to purchase a homecoming t-shirt in their class’s color. Breakfast will be served by the HHS Student Council, at 7:30 a.m. and will be followed by an 8:05 a.m. pep rally in the auditorium.
At 10 a.m., the Battle of the Classes will commence at Huron Arena, with students from each class competing in such technical skills as the wheelbarrow race, the hula-hoop pass, the shoe relay race and tug of war.
School will be dismissed at 1:25 p.m. so students can make final preparations for the 2 p.m. Homecoming Parade through downtown Huron. To enter a float in the homecoming parade, email romana.olivo@k12.sd.us or call the High School office at 353-7800, before noon on Wednesday.
There will be a 5 p.m. Tailgate Party at Tiger Stadium, hosted by the Tiger Roar Booster Club prior to the homecoming football game against Sturgis, which has a 7 p.m. kickoff.
