WOLSEY — Shirley Ann Kuestermeyer, 90, of Wolsey, passed away Tuesday, September 22, 2020, at her home in Wolsey.
Her funeral service will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday at Riverview United Methodist Church in Huron, with burial to follow at Restlawn Memory Gardens Cemetery in Huron.


Visitation will be on Sunday from 2 to 4 p.m., with her family present from 3 to 4 p.m. at Welter Funeral Home in Huron. Masks are highly recommended for both services. Visit www.welterfuneralhome.com to sign the online guestbook.


 Shirley Ann Van De Walle, the daughter of Victor and Beatrice Maye (Leinen) Van De Walle, was born September 23, 1929 in Virgil. She attended Virgil Public School, graduating in 1948 as valedictorian.


 Shirley married Edwin Kuestermeyer November 27, 1950 in Pipestone, Minn. To this union, five children were born.
 After Shirley graduated from high school, she worked at Farmers and Merchants Bank in Huron. On October 1, 1949, she began her 38-year career at Beadle County ASCS office. She retired in 1987. Shirley always enjoyed “her farmers.”
 Shirley enjoyed making ceramics, card playing, taking a trip or two to a casino, baking, and canning. In her younger years, she played softball. She loved to watch Minnesota Twins baseball and attending her grandchildren’s activities. Upon retirement, she and Ed enjoyed camping and fishing at the Missouri River. Shirley was a member of Virgil United Methodist Church.


Grateful for having shared in her life is her husband, Edwin Kuestermeyer of Wolsey; children, Terry Brown of Wolsey, Ruth (Scott) Eichstadt of Wolsey, Rick (Valerie) Kuestermeyer of Wolsey, Brenda (Jon) Hall of Arlington, and Penny (Robert) McGillvrey of Wolsey; 11 grandchildren, Eric (Leyla) Sumption, Jennifer (Chris) Leonard, Michael (Ashley) Eichstadt, Kelsey Kuestermeyer, Erin Kuestermeyer, Nicholas Hall, Brooke (Andy) Berdan, Cody (Amanda) Hall, Joshua (Bridgett) McGillvrey, Alexander McGillvrey, Alexis (Hayden Hooks) McGillvrey; 12 great-grandchildren, Alyssa Kachmar, Leylanie, Ayden and Alexa Sumption, Taylor, Riley and Everly Eichstadt, Iver Hall, GraceLynn, AddeLynn and Lawson McGillvrey, and Chandler Hooks; sisters, Leona (Ted) Walters of Glenwood Springs, Colo., and Joyce Eggelston of Rapid City; and brother, Clark (Sandra) Van De Walle of Yankton; and many nieces and nephews.


She was preceded in death by her parents; brother and sister-in-law, Gene and Barbara Van De Walle; sister, Alice Mann; and brother-in-law, Clinton Eggleston.
