REDFIELD — Shirley Bartlett, 75, of Redfield, passed away June 5, 2017.
Her memorial service will be 10:30 a.m., Monday, June 12, at the Redfield UCC Congregational Church. Burial will be 1 p.m. Monday in Riverside Cemetery at Aberdeen.
Shirley Bartlett was born January 23, 1942,  in Aberdeen to Edwin and Barbara (Cooper) Gates. She was born with Glaucoma Retinitis Pigmentosis causing blindness at the age of 20.                            She graduated from Central High School in 1960. Following graduation, she moved to Minneapolis where she was trained by the Minnesota Society of the Blind to use a Dictaphone.
She was united in marriage to Glenn Chamberlin in 1968. They were divorced in 1990. While attending Guide Dog Training School in Oregon, she met Dennis Bartlett. They were married in 1993. The couple moved to California in 1995. In early 2015, she relocated to Redfield to live with her cousin and caretaker due to declining health.
She is survived by her children, Kelly (Brent), and Steven (Tracy) both of the Minneapolis area; brother, Bob (Ann) Gates, of Cinebar, Wash.; cousin and caretaker, Mickey (Doyle) Harms of Redfield; eight grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; brother, Jimmy; and her faithful guide dogs.
