Sioux Center records win against Lady All-Stars

HURON — A 3-1 lead in the opening period propelled Sioux Center to a 5-3 victory against the Huron Lady All-Stars on Sunday at Bergman Arena.
Using goals by Micky Tinklenberg and Camille Plagge, the Storm  took a 2-0 lead in the contest.
Cassandra Valer put Huron on the board in the opening period, scoring on a pass from Abby Thomas to cut Sioux Center’s lead in half.
The Storm would score late in the opening period to carry a 3-1 advantage into the second period. Sarah Vander Werf had the goal.
An unassisted goal by Megan Kuester boosted the lead to 4-1 for the Storm just over a minute into the second period.
Huron would pull back to within two goals later in the second period, as Ashley Busch found the net on a pass from Kylee Small.
The Lady All-Stars then narrowed their deficit to just one with an unassisted goal by Thomas just a minute and 12 seconds into the final period.
Sioux Center’s lead would remain 4-3 until Plagge scored her second goal of the game just over 12 minutes into the period to cap the scoring.

Meysa Waring had 22 stops to earn the win in the net for the Storm. Alissa Ferguson recorded 28 saves for Huron.
The Lady All-Stars, who are now 2-9-1, traveled to face Mitchell on Monday and will host Sioux Falls at 7 p.m. Saturday at Bergman Arena.  

U14 girls
HURON — The Huron U14 girls’ team inked a pair of shutouts against Sioux Center to improve to 13-0 on the season.
The Lady All-Stars won 6-0 on Saturday.
Kylie Small had two of the four Huron goals in the second period. The first was assisted by Izabel Casper, while the second was assisted by Devin Hunter.
Also scoring in the second period for the Lady All-Stars were Hunter on an unassisted shot and Alexis Rashaad, with assists going to Alexis Priest and Casper.
Huron then had two goals in the final period. Priest had the first on a pass from Casper, while Small earned a hat trick with an unassisted goal to cap the scoring.
Marrisa Ready stopped both shots she faced to record the shutout in the net for the Lady All-Stars. Allison Moore stopped 46 of the 52 shots she faced from Huron.
Hunter had a pair of goals to help the Lady All-Stars to a 7-0 win on Sunday. The first came in the opening period on an unassisted shot, while the second was also unassisted during a short-handed situation.
Alexis Rashaad opened the scoring for Huron as she found the net on a pass from Azalea Rashaad. Priest also had a goal in the opening period on a pass from Hunter to make it 3-0.
Finding the net in the second period for the Lady All-Stars besides Hunter were Shelby Timm and Anna Fuerst. Timm was assisted by Alexis Rashaad, while Fuerst was assisted by Timm.
Marrisa Ready had the final goal for Huron on a pass from Greta Bott in the third period.
Small had nine saves to ink the win as the goalie for the Lady All-Stars. Moore stopped 43 of the 50 shots she faced from Huron.
The Lady All-Stars traveled to face Mitchell on Monday and will host Sioux Falls on Saturday and Sunday at Bergman Arena.
