Sioux Center wins 2020 Rooster Cup title

HURON — Sioux Center went undefeated to claim the title during the 2020 Rooster Cup Tournament, which was held Saturday and Sunday at Bergman Arena.

The Storm opened with a 6-5 decision against Oahe on Saturday and then edged Huron 4-3 in the annual Teddy Bear Toss game on Saturday night. Sioux Center completed the sweep with a 5-2 victory against Aberdeen on Sunday.

Huron was second with a 1-1-1 record.

The All-Stars and Aberdeen battled to a 3-3 draw in the opening game of the tournament on Saturday. Huron then edged Pierre 2-1 on Sunday.

Pierre used a 6-2 victory against Aberdeen on Saturday to claim the third spot.

The All-Stars will open league play at 7:45 p.m. Saturday against Sioux Falls 2 at Bergman Arena.
Huron will then host Oahe in a 5:30 p.m. game on Sunday at Bergman Arena.
