Six deaths in state; no new positives in Beadle County

HURON — After eclipsing 100 deaths in Thursday’s numbers, South Dakota quickly added more to the death toll on Friday, as six more deaths brought the state’s total to 107. After having 97 deaths as a state on July 2, 10 deaths have been reported over the last three days in the state.

Beadle County continued to see positive trends in case of numbers with zero new positive cases on Friday. With five new recovered cases, the county’s active caseload is down to 46.

Saturday marks four months since the first confirmed case of COVID-19 in Beadle County on March 11.

Here are the numbers over those four months:

  • 551 positive cases
  • 1,529 negative cases
  • 498 recovered cases
  • 7 deaths
  • 22 hospitalized
  • 26.5% positive test rate
  • 11.3% of county residents tested
  • 1.3% mortality rate in county
  • 4% hospitalization rate in county

The Heartland region did not see any new positive cases on Friday. Clark County had one new recovered case, bringing its active cases down to just one. Hand and Jerauld Counties each also have one active case in their county.
